Pickleball courts in Malaysia: all 32 venues, ranked

Pickleball arrived in Malaysia properly around 2020 and went vertical after 2023. What was a handful of taped-out badminton courts is now a national network of dedicated venues, converted futsal pitches, mall rooftops and DBKL community halls with fresh line paint.

The problem is that nobody has kept an honest, current list. Operator directories only show venues that pay them. Blog roundups go stale in a season. This page is our attempt at the opposite: every venue we can verify, scored on the same rubric, with the date we last checked it printed on the card.

How we score every court

Each venue gets a Hub Score out of 100, built from five twenty-point pillars: surface and lighting, access and parking, beginner pathway, amenities, and value for money. The rubric is identical for a RM25 community hall and a RM60 lifestyle club — which is why some public halls outscore private venues on value while losing heavily on amenities.

Paid placements exist and are labelled. A featured venue can move up within its own score band, never above a materially better court. If we sold position outright the ranking would stop being worth reading, and then it would stop being worth buying.

Distribution is uneven and it matters. If you live outside the Klang Valley your realistic options are far narrower, and travel time will decide whether you keep playing.

Choosing between indoor, covered and outdoor

This is the decision that most affects whether you enjoy playing here, and most guides skip it entirely because they are written for temperate countries.

• [Indoor courts](/indoor-courts-malaysia) — roof and walls. Rain-proof and haze-proof, but usually hot unless the venue is one of the rare air-conditioned ones.
• [Covered courts](/covered-courts-malaysia) — roof, open sides. Shade plus cross-breeze, which is the best combination for the Malaysian climate most of the year.

If you are new, start with beginner-friendly venues that run open play. Turning up alone to a court where everyone already has a group is the single most common reason people try pickleball once and never come back.

Booking a court in Malaysia

1. 01Check the venue's own social channels first — many Malaysian operators release slots on Instagram before their booking system updates.
2. 02Book two to three days ahead for weekday evenings. Peak slots at popular Klang Valley venues go within hours.
3. 03For DBKL halls, book through the council system rather than a private platform, or you will pay a markup.
4. 04Confirm whether the rate is per court or per person. A few venues in Penang and Sarawak price per head for social sessions.
5. 05Ask whether paddles are lent free. If you are new, this saves you buying gear before you know you like the sport.
